Hosting events is an opportunity to connect with your customers or community in real time, build relationships, and establish yourself as an expert in your field.

While the idea of hosting an event might feel overwhelming, you can streamline the process of organizing, marketing, and selling tickets for your event with Squarespace’s tools and features. Here are six reasons you should use a Squarespace site to sell tickets for your next event.

1. Ready-made event templates

Create a dedicated website for your event. This can be your event hub where prospective attendees can find helpful information, like the event date and time, location, pricing, lodging and dining options, sponsor information, and more.

To get started, choose from one of Squarespace’s beautifully designed event templates. You can customize the fonts, visuals, and layout of any template to reflect your brand or the theme of your event. Include an RSVP button on the main page to encourage sign-ups or add a gallery image page to showcase photos from past events.

Whether you’re hosting an upscale cocktail reception, a multi-day music festival, or a weekly craft fair, Squarespace has a template you can use. Check out some of these sample event templates:

2. Easy to integrate with an existing website

If you run regular events, you may not want to create a separate website for each one. Make your events part of your overall business or brand by adding an events page to your existing Squarespace website.

Use the page to list any of your upcoming events. If you run an annual event, you can refresh it with the latest updates each year. This is a great way to highlight book signings, meet and greet sessions, concerts, and any other event you’re hosting. You can also use Squarespace’s calendar block to display your events in a calendar format, so your visitors can browse anything that’s coming up. Once they sign up, you can set up an automated confirmation email with more event details and FAQs.

3. Mobile-friendly design

All Squarespace websites are designed to be fully optimized for mobile devices. This means your web page and all of its features will be easy to use on any screen size, ensuring more mobile users can buy tickets. Customers can easily sign up for your events either from desktop browsers or on the go on their mobile devices. Integrations with payment processors make it easy for people to check out with a credit card or mobile pay.

Squarespace’s website editor has a device preview functionality, so you can see how your event page looks before going live. Or create a mobile-only layout with the Fluid Engine editor.

4. Simple social sharing

Share your event details directly to your social media channels so you can reach your prospective attendees while they’re scrolling. To get started, connect your social media accounts to your Squarespace account, then use the event page’s “Share” tab to automatically push the event content to your social channels. Attendees can then reshare your post to let their networks know they’re going.

Build anticipation for your event by keeping your followers updated on its progress on your social accounts. Start with a post announcing the details, then reveal exciting additions leading up to the big day. Share a link to get tickets with each new update. Or consider adding an early-bird ticket discount that expires a few weeks before the event. Remember to share the same content and promotions with your mailing list too.

5. All-in-one event hosting options

If your event has a video or livestream option, you can organize or even run your event entirely on Squarespace. Use Member Sites to set up an exclusive, members-only section of your website. Member Sites come with some ecommerce features, so you can offer subscriptions for recurring events.

You can embed videos, blogs, and other content on your Member Site page or send emails exclusively to members. This way, you can send updates leading up to your event, share supplemental material, sell related products, upload recordings, or even live stream your in-person event with an embeddable player.

6. Custom ticket offerings

When selling tickets to your event, you may want to offer different ticket options. For example, you could sell a VIP experience in addition to a general admission option or encourage early sign-ups with an early bird special.

To sell tickets for your event, you can create service products for each type of ticket. You can then add variations for service products, which is helpful if you want to sell tickets for an event that happens more than once. For example, if you offer a candle-making class once a week for two months, let visitors choose which session they’d like to attend.

How to sell event tickets on Squarespace

You can create, market, and sell tickets to your event with selling options and promotional tools available on Squarespace. To start selling event tickets

  1. Set up service products for your individual ticket offerings. When creating your product, consider the following.

    • How much do you want to charge for the event?

    • Do you want to sell different ticket types?

    • Is there a limit to the number of tickets you want to sell?

  2. Create an event page to display your event. Think through the following when building your event page.

    • Do you want to display your events in a list or add a calendar block to your page?

    • Can visitors easily find your event page from your homepage?

    • Do you need to hide your store page to prevent double-listing your events?

  3. Add your ticket products to the event page, then publish the page and share with your customers.
